Look back, Look ahead.....

Today is the last day of 2008.

When I look back to this time last year, I am completely AMAZED at how much has happened. 2008 was a huge year for me. Lots of changes and lots of important events. 2008 included lots of firsts and lasts for me. This time last year I was finishing my application to come here and still not really knowing how all that would work out. There were countless prayers offered up.....with me always asking for guidance, direction, and peace. He did lead--and here I am.

My prayer is that 2009 will be filled with more amazing and life-changing experiences. I'm hoping that I really find my niche here so that I can be an effective worker for rest of my term. I'm starting 2009 in this different place, so no doubt, it will be a year like no other.

Every new year brings thoughts of resolutions and things that need to change/be improved upon. I have my share of those items this year, too. Some are different than usual, and some are the same. (for instance, "exercise" is not on my list this year because I walk all the time now and my pants are too big!) A New Year's prayer that is seems to always be the same is to know Him intimately, love Him deeply, pray fervently, serve humbly, live joyfully.

Your New Year's Prayer is beautiful and is appropriate for all of us as we seek to live closer to Him and to serve Him where ever and whenever He leads.
Yes, 2008 brought so many changes in your life and in all of our lives. I think that a year ago, deep down we all considered it a great possibility that you would be in another country very soon. Your niche may be in many places. It's apparent that you love "the village people" and your work there. Also, your blog entries and letters to prayer partners create a wonderful link between those praying, sending, and supporting and the one answered "yes" to the word "go". The link you have established has highlighted what it means to "GO" and to be patient and take Time to know people plus give them Truth (the Word of God). Love, MOM

Honestly, your mom pretty much said what I was going to say. Plus, she did it much better.

2008 was such an eventful year for you and everyone who knows you. I've been blessed to spend 2008 getting to know you better and seeing where God has brought you.

2009 will be a great year, full of more firsts and lasts. Keep up the great work.
