Today had its share of ups and downs.
Up: Got to talk to Berrik using Skype
Down: Walked in the cold, uphill to a meeting about a Christmas ministry event for children. The girl who normally translates for me didn't show up. So, they found someone else to translate. She was not good at it. At all. Also, my idea of an organizing an event is much different than theirs..... (or was it just that I didn't understand what was going on because of the language barrier?) It was a frustrating meeting for me.
Up: Had a good language lesson. My teacher was nice to me and helped me review since I had not had a lesson in two weeks. Praise God she was nice!
Up: Came home and made some vegetable beef soup. I got to share my soup creation with my roommate Sonya and my friend Arax. I had a really good time with them despite the language barrier. I just love Arax....I hope we become even better friends when I learn more Armenian.
So, life is full of up and down sort of circumstances. Someone wise once said "Don't let circumstances overcome your joy". They are so right. In every situation there is a way to still praise God and to be thankful.
Christmas is coming....there is a Christmas display at a nearby supermarket. Tonite the lights were on and I started singing "O Christmas Tree" in my head. :)

I want to tweek that a little: "Life is like a roller coaster, full of ups and downs, and loop-de-loops, and corkscrews, and sometimes the best thing you can do is simply strap yourself in, throw your hands in the air, and scream!"
I'm glad you had more ups than downs.
I'm so glad you had a pleasant language lesson. It's great that you have new friends to share soup with. I guess music and food are international languages. Everyone loves Christmas so the children's ministry will work out one way or another. You are such an inspiration how you find joy in all circumstances. What's the temperature and wind chill factor when it's cold there?
