I taught my first English lesson on Wednesday in one of the villages. The name of the village means "honey" and the best I can type it for your understanding is "megh-rad-zor". When I entered the room, all 26 kids stood up, were completely quiet, and had their full attention on me. Woah! So, their first lesson included greeting skills (hi, how are you, I am fine, thank you), numbers, and colors. We also worked quite a bit on the "th" sound since they do not have that in their language. As I was giving examples of "th" words, Chris and I made a silly tongue twister: Thirty-three thousand thumbs! Also, they took a "test" at the end of class....I gave them M&M's and they gave instructions on which ones to eat. For example...Eat 2 green ones. Eat 5 yellow ones. They liked the test!
So, 26 kids were in my class, but 80 wanted to come. I found out that their parents and grandparents were begging that they could come---EVEN after they were told that the teacher was a Bapt. This means that the DOOR is already open to share. After English classes, I will ask a different student each week if I can go home with them and talk with their parents.
PLEASE remember this request.
Thanks, as always, for reading about my little adventures!

Wow! THis post just made my morning. I'm so excited for you! Not only is god opening doors for you to share, but it looks like he's preparing to open the big ol' giant, massive, double doors!
I especially liked the toungue twister. That's priceless.
Keep up the good work and we here at FBC Cupertino will be praying for the continued work in the villages.
I would've loved to be your student jac!
Your entry today was so exciting. I can almost visualize it. How thrilling to teach them English and also have a trust relationship. M & Ms are always a good positive reinforcement (as is any chocolate) Good for you!

I am so impressed with your creativity and how God is blessing your work. To have the doors open for you to share the Lord by taking a student home is awesome. Will continue to pray for God to use you for His glory.
