A Year in Review

This time last year my city was covered in snow. I was taking a holiday break from language classes which were entirely frustrating. I spent a decent number of Sundays wishing I was with English speakers singing English songs. I was preparing to start teaching English. I was still living at the M Center....alone. My internet was a lot less predictable. I was still figuring out how to cook here. I had just spent my first Christmas away from home.

A lot has changed!

There is ZERO snow right now. I am not taking language classes, but just speaking everyday and learning as I go. I can say quite a bit and understand even more. What I say is normally not grammatically correct, but I can be understood! Although I do miss Sundays in English, I love singing in Armenian. I also love learning new spiritual words. I have a year of English teaching under my belt and I have learned a lot! I have many students who are dear to me! I am living in an apartment now...across the street from my supervisors. Can't explain what a blessing that it. And in July, I gained a roommate/teammate. We have internet most of the time...but it's still slow. I cook a lot better now, especially with Mary around. She's a good cook and it's much more motivating to cook a good meal for 2 rather than 1. We've learned what to buy and where to buy it. Just had my 2nd Christmas away from home, and although being away from family on the holidays is difficult, it was much less painful this year. Those I spent Christmas with have become another set of family.

I'm thankful for the many blessings of 2009!

I, too, am thankful for your blessings of 2009. Just reading them makes me thankful again and again. Makes me think of that old hymn "Count your Many Blessings"... see what God has done. We should all do that, and we should all look for more ways that we can be a blessing for others. So... tell us how WE can be a blessing to you (not only me.. but all of your readers).
