Ok, so I promised a recap on the second part of my Greece vacation.
It's been a few weeks, so I will try to do my best.
Athens was incredibly HOT, but we of course had to see all the most important Athenian sights. Me and my group endured the heat as we toured the Acropolis area including the Parthenon, Mars Hill, etc. It was also nice to enjoy the air-conditioned, brand new Museum at the Acropolis. The design of the actual museum was just as interesting as the contents of the museum! The museum was build on ancient ruins, so the see-through floor of the museum was so cool! Just by chance, a friend and I decided to go back up the hill and check out the Parthenon at sunset. The Parthenon was sadly closed, but we made our way back to Mark Hill and caught the changing of the guard of the Parthenon at a distance with a beautiful sunset as a backdrop.
Athens was great, very historical, and educational. However, I was thrilled to pack up and head to Aegina island. This is where it got interesting. Catching the ferry to the island proved to be a difficult task because we couldn't figure out where to buy the tickets! When we finally found the right ticket booth, they said we had 5 minutes until the boat left, and well....we missed the boat. Plan B: We waited about 45 minutes and caught a different ferry, which proved to be really nice. We were all enjoying the boat so much that we didn't realize that the boat had stopped at our island and....well.....moved on. We spent a few extra hours on the boat as it made its normal route. It was a wonderful mistake! It was a really cheap way to see a lot of amazing scenery.
Aegina was great. It was a quaint island where a lot of Greeks go to relax. I spent a full day on the beach sunbathing, reading a book, and enjoying the water. Ahhhh. So good! (Not to mention the tasty Greek food!) I spent the other day with my friend, Mary, on an ATV driving all around the island. I've never seen such beauty! We took turns driving/riding on the back, so the cost was actually pretty cheap. We also took a little detour and went swimming in a small cove.
I spent my last day in Greece back in Athens with my supervisors. We made our last stop at Starbucks and the Acropolis Museum (again for me). Somehow, the hotel made a mistake and their room got UPGRADED. They invited me over and we enjoyed the big screen tv, jucuzzi bathtub, and huge balcony. We definitely had Dominoes delivered and ate Little Debbies. It was such a good night together laughing and enjoying the end of the vacation.
It was a GREAT vacation, but it was also a joy to come back to Yerevan.

All people, and especially missionaries, need a vacation to bond with others and to be refreshed in the Lord. It was a beautiful way to relax and thank the Lord for creating such wonderful places. What Greek food did you have?
