Beautifully Diverse......

So, I live in one of the most ethnically homogeneous places in the world. Seriously, most people here are Armenian. Yet somehow, I've had the opportunity to meet some really diverse people in my short time here.

So, people from other places (such as India) come and study at the medical university in this city. I've had the opportunity to meet some cool Indian guys (and eat some great Indian food!). Some of the Indian guys have attended church with us and we've gotten to know them. Last week we had a little going away party and they cooked some good food for us. We also had a time of worship with them before they left. It was great because it was almost more of a commissioning. We are sending them back to their homeland with more spiritual knowledge. Their spiritual lives have started/grown while they've been here, and we are sending them back to their people in a dark place. One Indian guy came and worshipped with us for the first time that night. We learned that he came from a Hindu background, but trusted in Christ about a month ago. He will be going back to his village as the only believer.....there's a chance he will face tough persecution. He had a big smile on his face and a light in his eyes. I can't wait to hear how God uses him.

There is a woman who lives in the school next to our M center. She is Napali by blood, Burmese by citizenship, but she came here from Thailand. What language do I speak with her? Armenian of course! May God bless this woman who is living in a foreign land.....she has a difficult life here.

Saturday I met a new friend here. She is Chinese by blood, Australian by citizenship, studying in Colorado, and currently doing a 2 month internship in....you guessed it.....Yerevan! She also has a unique story of how the Father has worked in her life.

Don't really know what the point of this blog is. It's just an observation that there is such diversity everywhere! I love the homogeneous-ness of Armenians but I also love the diversity that is found in my new Chinese friend Korina.

Only the One True God could make a world so beautifully diverse, yet we are all under his lordship. Only He could bring unique people together for a common purpose and then we have a church. Good stuff.

I particularly like this post. Diversity is one of the things I have grown to love most about living in California. It's amazing how the Father has created people that can be so incredibly different from one another, yet they become His children the same way with the same promises, he same scripture, & the same commands.

I can tell that you have such an openness toward all types of people of all sorts of diversities.
I know you enjoy both learning about and loving all people. I'm so proud of you. Glad you are enjoying all types of food. Looking forward to hearing more about your "Chinese" friend.
