I was a victim of the ILC stomach virus. I think I have survived, but it sure wasn't pretty! And there are certain things that I'm not sure I will be able to eat for a while...! yuck! I had to miss our big Washington DC trip on Thursday and that made me really sad....it was going to be a day of cross-cultural learning and sharing with people from other places. Perhaps this is all part of my preparation for the field.
Today we had a class called "History on a Page" which was so amazing.....
Did you know that there are 5 memories in every culture...? They are:
Father
Fellowship
Fall
Flood
Filling
Another interesting fact.....
Daniel (the Hebrew), Buddha, and Confucius were contemporaries. They lived only about 50 years apart from each other, and Daniel was the oldest. This has serious implications on what happened in terms of world religions and how they spread across the globe! WOW!
In a month's time I will be in a new country....wow. I'm so thankful that Someone has gone before me. He will carry me in times of joy and in times of trouble. In moments of weakness and in seasons of victory. On days my heart is breaking and on days my heart is bursting with happiness. Sickness and health. Need and plenty. Culture shock and homesickness. Success and failure. In celebration and in tragedy. In PEACE. Oh, He will carry me.

I'm so sorry you were the yukky kind of sick I enjoy how you teach us such as the Father, Fellowship, Flood, Fall,, etc. in every culture. The contemporaries of Daniel were a surprise to me. I know your mixed feelings...I have them, too but then I remember how you talked with the children this summer with such enthusiasm and confidence that could only have come from God working through you. Love, MOM
I could comment something clever about what you posted, but I'm going to be talking to you on the webcam within the next few minutes.
I miss you like crazy! I have been reading your blog and realized today that I needed to start commenting. You always hated that before! :) I enjoy reading your experiences! Love always! Tricia
Wow! I've enjoyed reading everything Jaclyn! This allows us to "stay in touch", and it's a real blessing to learn the specifics of what you have been doing, studying, and learning. Looking forward to reading more, and seeing you when you're home.
Love & prayers, Jo
