So, I've been putting off buying new jeans/pants. My language class was canceled today, so I knew it was the perfect opportunity to go downtown to Teranova (a clothing store) and look for new jeans. I did not find any that I wanted that were also in my price range......bummer. But I did find 2 sweaters on sale, so I bought those! I decided that I would go back to my part of the city and browse at another store, so I went to the street to look for transportation.
I still feel like a novice in the realm of transporation, sometimes. Like today. My first thought was to catch a taxi, but I decided to be more economical and catch a marshuta (van-like public transportation). I saw the #73 coming, and although I wasn't sure if it was headed in the right direction, I hopped on. Before today, I thought that marshutkas just make a big circle on their route. After riding for quite a few minutes, I was the last one on the bus and the driver looked at me and said "Verch" (the end). I noticed that I was in a place I didn't recognize and that there were several other #73 marshutkas hanging out. Apparently, and the end of the route, the driver goes to this "holding place" and gets to rest, and another bus takes over. At this point, I had no clue where I was, so I caught a taxi back home. Towards the end of the taxi ride, the driver decides to make small talk and when it was time for me to get out, he asked for my number!
So, once I'm finally in familiar territory, I try to look for jeans again, but I had no success.
All that to say.....transporation lessons learned, but no demin!

WOW! What a transportation story. Did you give him your number?
Love you.
Well aren't you just the hot American girl that attracts all the guys! ;)
I hope transportation gets easier. That must be difficult to get around in the city if you don't know all the little things about transportation.
Please, just stay safe.
Jaclyn, You are SO BRAVE!...
but please be cautious. Did the taxi driver speak English?
was it late when you realized you were lost? I have a similar story from Russia, although probably a lot scarier. IT was early on and my russian was not very good. I was out with friends and decided to leave early. I decided to take the bus because it ran by the school we were attending and the metro station too. However the bus stop was on the other side of the street and I didn't know that and so when we got to the bus depot and I had to get off, well lets just say it wasn't anywhere near a metro station. Luckily there were nice people that directed me in the right direction and I avoided the bus after that!
