Rollercoaster

More observations and randomness....

1. I didn't realize how much I missed GOOD cake. I had a slightly emotional experience while eating some really great cake at a baby shower. I had heard that those things can happen. My supervisor had a similar experience after he spent a few years on the field. Pretty funny.

2. Excuse me, Old Navy......where is the "Wear to Work" section??? Do they only sell jeans, t-shirts, and sweaters now?

3. Someone asked me this week where I live and I replied, "I don't know." Hmmm.......
I've now trained myself to say "Wagoner, OK" whether I think I do or not.

4. Groupon?

5. I saw a Chipotle in Tulsa on my way home and had to stop in. It tasted great and also brought back memories of my time in Virginia.

6. I never quite know what to say when people ask me to say something in Armenian. Any suggestions?

7. I decided to forgo a birthday with friends and family and opted to go to Virginia for my debriefing conference.

8. I'm still taken back when I hear really bad English.

9. I tried to buy a planner at Wal-Mart and after she attempted to scan it, she told me that I could not buy it. Period. I must have idealized American customer service quite a bit. Talk about disappointment!

10. And last but not least....I'm trying to focus on the fact that God has me here for this time. There is something for me to learn or to do. There is rest and processing that needs to take place. Jim Elliot said once that "Wherever you are, be all there." I want to live by that, but I admit it is not easy right now. I want to see my next step, but I must remember not to miss out on what is NOW.

Next time I'm in Tulsa, I'll try Chipolte's. That must have been some cake. Find out who made it and maybe you can have one for your birthday celebrate. Your birthday is all of the month of September. I love having you right here at least for now.. we haven't had that in a long time.
What to say in Armenian...... I love You, a verse of Scripture....

1. LOL. That is hilarious and you know I TOTALLY RELATE. There are many wonderful things in Armenia...cake is not one of them. :)

3. I totally relate to this too...I still have to think when people ask me where I'm from since it's too complicated to mention one place. Never been more conscious of the fact that this world is not our home.

5. Give 'em the Hayr Mer...that usually impresses people. :)

7. Glad you're going to debriefing. I think it will be great for you.

9. But the real question is, before she told you that you couldn't buy it, did you have to lock your purse in a safe and be followed around the whole store by an employee watching your every move?

10. I'm with you girl, and I am praying for both of us that He'll use this time for His glory and that we'll cooperate! :)

Great post. Love you.

"You mean I can't buy it at all?" The look on your face was amazing!!! I am glad you are home even though I can tell sometimes you wish you weren't here. It's nice to have my best friend on the same continent again!

P.S. I still contend that you are making up have of the Armenian that you say! :)

I totally understand all that. That is why it is so hard to go "Home" when you aren't sure if it really is. . . I am praying for you during this time of transition!
