Thoughts on Persecution....

What does it mean to be persecuted? How little I really know. But, I'm learning what it means from my friends. I sat around a kitchen table today and looked to my right and left. Everyone there had experienced some kind of persecution from their family at one time or another. They kept the faith and they were not put to shame. In fact, even greater miracles came from it.

I sat around another table tonight with dear friends. Threats of cutting financial and familial ties had been made, along with other horrible words. We stood by them assuring them that our Father sees all things, is in control of all things, and that he would surely bring something good from this bad day.

Here, it does matter what your neighbor thinks. Your uncle can decide your future. You can lose vital financial support. Manipulation is normal. Your family can forbid you to do such and such and go here or there.

How far am I willing to go? What risks am I willing to take? If the stakes were high, would I still follow?

Lift up your brothers and sisters who have to make difficult decisions daily. May they have a humble confidence that helps them persevere through the most trying situations. Believe with us that persecution is not a bad thing or a good thing, it just is. He has received the most glory through things such as lions dens, wells, fiery furnaces, and cruel stones. He will continue to receive glory as His children follow Him through mountains, valleys, and everything in between...no matter the cost.

Thoughts on persecution is really deep. It is hard to imagine persecution when it doesn't affect yourself or family. What if it happens in America? (Is it already happening?) I love you and am so proud of you.
