The title of this post is a tribute to Sesame Street's "The Count" because that's all I've been doing!!!! Well, not ALL, but it definitely has consumed a large part of my recent experiences. We are preparing like crazy for the Singing Men to get here. They arrive Saturday and they are already enroute. I really can't expressive the "huge-ness" of this project. Perhaps when it's complete I can help you understand.
So, back to the counting...I've been counting, sorting, organizing, checking and rechecking the souvenirs they bought from our small business. I've also had the privilege of counting, sorting, and labeling their oxford shirts that our girls embroidered. It was no small task. There's a reason I didn't go into accoutning....I don't count very well. So, hopefully I didn't mess up anyone's order toooo much! ;)
I'm continuing to teach English. There are a couple of students that I would like you to remember because they are listening very closely to the Good News. Tamara, Anush, Heghine, and Nune are just a couple of the ladies that you could lift up. I've been using more and more stories from the Word when I teach, so that has been fun for me and good for them.
We're getting to know Nune in a unique way. She does an awesome job painting fingernails, and and she's painted mine about 3 times now. She does crazy cool designs and she won't let me pay! It's fun for me and it's gives her more time to hang out with some of the local sisters.
I feel like my language skills are improving. I feel the improvement especially in the area of comprehension. It's strange....at first I had so many adjustments to make that it was almost too difficult for me to really jump in with the language. But now that I feel settled, I feel more free to practice with nationals. It's definitely a good thing!
Easter: I really enjoyed the Easter holiday here! In a lot of ways, I enjoyed it more here that in the States. We of course celebrated Palm Sunday, but then we also had services for the Last Supper, Good Friday, and Easter. The Thursday and Friday services were very solemn and serious. It was good to take time for each of those days and remember. I really wish we wouldn't rush though Easter in America.
I had to learn some new phrases for Easter, which was fun. When you greet someone you say, "Christos herav e mererots!" and the response is "H'ortnyal e harootsyoonu Cristosi" A very rough translation is "Christ is risen" "Blessed is the resurrection of Christ" So, that was fun to say to everyone and they loved that I learned to say it. They also have a really fun tradition of taking 2 dyed red eggs and hitting the ends together. If your egg doesn't crack, you win! I had a very strong egg, so I enjoyed winning several times.
The next time I update you, it will probably be after the singing men project, so hang tight! Lift us up every chance you get because the Enemy is prowling around here like a lion! He is a destroyer of good things, but we serve someone Bigger and more Powerful! Intercede for us!

Yesssssss!
I wonder if she does pedicures, too? Glad you are getting better and better acquainted with the girls. The men left here at 4 a.m. yesterday (Thursday). I can already hear you say that I sent some "random things". I'm really impressed with your language skills. Maybe I need one of those"Learn to speak...... programs. Wish I were there at this iimportant time.
