Flying Solo.

I've been hesitant to write about it, but maybe it will do me some good.

For more than 2 1/2 years we shared lots of laughs, tears, ups, downs, super long distances, and a plethora of Mexican restaurants. And now we are going to walk different paths.

Is it for the best? Probably.

Does it hurt? Heck yeah.

Do I regret our time? Nope.

So, we're both flying solo again. And once again I'm learning to trust that God really does know what's best for me and that He has my good and his glory in mind.

Here are a few quotes from Elisabeth Elliot, a woman whose supreme desire is to obey Christ, no matter the cost.

"When ours are interrupted, his are not. His plans are proceeding exactly as scheduled, moving us always (including those minutes or hours or years which seem most useless or wasted or unendurable) "toward the goal of true maturity" (Rom 12:2 JBP).

God is God. Because He is God, He is worthy of my trust and obedience. I will find rest nowhere but in His holy will, a will that is unspeakably beyond my largest notions of what He is up to.

The will of God is never exactly what you expect it to be. It may seem to be much worse, but in the end it's going to be a lot better and a lot bigger.

Experience has taught me that the Shepherd is far more willing to show His sheep the path than the sheep are to follow. He is endlessly merciful, patient, tender, and loving. If we, His stupid and wayward sheep, really want to be led, we will without fail be led. Of that I am sure. "

Those quotes are so comforting no matter what season of life you are in. I am glad you are allowing Father to be your shepherd.

I'm praying for you, Sister-jan (to use the words of another dear Sister-jan of ours). I know this can't be easy but the best thing is that really and truly we are never "flying solo" because He is always with us! I know you know this and I pray that you will really feel it as well in these days of uncertainty.

To borrow from Shane and Shane,"Be near, oh God, be near, O, God of us, your nearness is to us our good."

Love you girl. Any time you need to talk or need prayer, please let me know.

I agree with all that you said. It's hard, but I know it's for the best.... God's best. Thanks for the words of encouragement and reminders how great our God is and how much He cares about us.
