Dance Dance Revolution

First off, I want to say thank you to my parents for all the dance classes they paid for when I was growing up. I suppose it's paid off to an extent!

I got home late last night from one of my best friend's birthday party where we spent hours dancing. SO much fun. I'm not very good, but when my other friend (who is an Armenian style dance teacher) helps me, I'm at least not terrible! We had so much fun doing traditional dances (they said I've really turned Armenian) and doing a lot of silly dancing.

Birthdays here are such a special occasion. People are congratulating all day, there is always cake and ussually tasty khorovats (grilled meat), lots of toasting and well wishing, and then the dancing!
For an outsider, it would probably be culture overload. It's one of the things I will miss the most.

I'm so thankful I got to spend Arax's birthday with her! She is my dear friend and my first real Armenian friend. As I was saying a toast, I got a lump in my throat and had to work to keep back the tears. We decided that there needs to be one more dance party before I leave. I think that's a good idea...

That sounds like tons of fun.
I bet you are a good Armenian style dancer. I know you have talked so much about Arax and I recognize her in pics. Maybe I should give her a page in the scrapbook. Looks like we've got some partying to live up to for your 25th birthday September 10.
Maybe the next party could be your early b'day event.
