Well, I'm alive and breathing and have experienced no adverse effects from drinking some diluted "Domestos"....think Clorox.
How exactly, or WHY, did I drink Domestos water? Well, let me tell ya....
Well, it was Sunday afternoon and I was helping a friend clean out an apartment (that belongs to her friend)that was coming up for rent. Her friend is out of the country and she somehow landed the job of making sure it was ready for the renters. (Who just so happen to be a girl who is competing to represent Armenia in the EuroVision competition).
So, the apartment was pretty dirty--especially the strange glass hot water tank above the shower. Since it's glass it was yucky from old standing water. The male part of our crew was in charge of getting it clean, so of course "Domestos" came to the rescue as they scrubbed the tank. What I didn't know about the hot water tank was that the hot water also goes directly to the kitchen sink.....
I got a tickle in my throat and I just could not stop coughing, so I found a clean glass, turned on the faucet, and next thing I know I'm saying to my flatmate, Mary, "Uh, this water tastes like Clorox." Then I turn to the guys and say in Armenian, "Where is the water from? I drank some and it tastes like soap." It took them a second, but then they suddenly cried out, "You DRANK it?! There's Domestos in that water!"
At that moment, I thought I was going to die. It was really just a mental thing, but I definitely had a moment of panic.
My dear friend, Benik, volunteered to run to the store and bring back ingredients to make "tan". Tan is a yogurt-milk drink that can be made from matsun (a sour yogurt) and water.
I usually like my tan with salt and greens, but I had to do without....AND had to drink it with gassy water instead of still water. Either way, I was pretty glad for this home remedy. It made sense and it eased my mind.
After our work was done, I went to the newest "fast food" Mexican restaurant in the city--Taco Maco. It wasn't bad. But the concession stand cheese on the nachos was sadly cold. But the chips were good and seemed to be homemade!
It was an interesting day of ingesting things. I think I will repeat Taco Maco again, but not the Domestos.

I am glad you didn't die from drinking Clorox. I would have been super sad.
I really wish the BCM could have gone to Armenia this summmer. I was one of the students interested in going, but sadly, we aren't.
Ok those were random. I am enjoying reading your blogs. Keep up the good work in Armenia!
Jackie-two-times, I just wanted to say that I don't know what we would have done without Benik....he is awesome!
